How much does a wedding celebrant cost?
Wedding celebrant fees vary according to experience, amount of travel, and services offered. Some will include the use of a PA system and signing table in their fee. Expect to pay from $400 for a quick legals only ceremony and more for a ceremony individually crafted around your love story.
What does a wedding celebrant do?
A wedding celebrant will usually offer you an obligation free meeting to discuss your ceremony. If you choose them, then they will plan your ceremony, offer tips and suggestions on your vows and readings / poems, a rehearsal, officiate your marriage and complete the necessary paperwork.
How far in advance should I book a wedding celebrant?
Once you have decided on your wedding date you can book your celebrant. For weddings in Australia you need to lodge a Notice of Intended Marriage at least 30 days prior to your wedding, and no more than 18 months in advance of your wedding date. Your celebrant will lodge this paperwork on your behalf.
Who can be a wedding celebrant?
To legally marry people in Australia you must be authorised by the Attorney-General’s department.
